You may come across a real estate agent in many different ways. He/she may be the one who conducted the open house that you attended. Or you may have cold-called a real estate agent. Or your friends or family have referenced you a real estate agent. Whatever may be the case, it is essential that you interview them before selecting the right real estate agent. Check for experience, training, references and reputation before finalizing a real estate agent.
Do you know anyone who has already purchased a home? The best way is to get references and advice from him for a real estate agent. From a home buyer who has already bought a home you can get a lot of useful information about a real estate agent that will help you to get a good real estate agent. The questions you need to ask are:
• Is the real estate agent good in handling the real estate transaction process?
• What are the qualities of the agent that the buyer liked?
• Does the agent listen to buyer’s needs?
• What fees will charge and what extra services does he offer?
Based on the answers you get for these questions you can decide on a real estate agent.Once you get the contact information of real estate agents you can start interviewing them. When interviewing, try to get as much information as possible regarding their services and their specialties. Tell the agent about what you want in your home. Ask the real estate agent how he/she can help you. Make sure that the real estate agent has experience in handling a home type that you intend to buy. Inquire the success rate of the real estate agent as well before making the final decision.
Once you decide a real estate agent, come to agreement with him/her to service you exclusively. Otherwise your real estate agent may serve as the seller’s agent as well which is not so desirable from a home buyer’s view point.
